Nurmat Otabekov clarifies whether revaccination is allowed in Uzbekistan
The deputy head of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service Nurmat Otabekov clarified whether revaccination is allowed in Uzbekistan.
“First of all, it needs to be understood: as soon as we start and complete the process of vaccination against any disease, we are vaccinated. When a disease requires multiple vaccinations, the term “revaccination” is used. There is still no indication for vaccination with another vaccine some time after vaccination with one vaccine. The World Health Organization did not give any instructions either,” he said.
In addition, he said that Uzbekistan has not yet developed a procedure according to which the course of vaccination begins with one drug, and the next course with another.
“In world medicine, this is called hybrid vaccination. WHO is currently working on this issue. Vaccine supply disruptions are causing problems. In this regard, it is not surprising that such a hybrid vaccination will soon be allowed,” the expert noted.
In conclusion, he said that as soon as a document appears, according to which revaccination is allowed, indicating the sequence and intervals of vaccine administration, the relevant departments will inform the public and all medical personnel.
