Number of illegal logging cases significantly increased in Uzbekistan

More than 4,000 tree fellings have been reported since the beginning of the year. The damage to nature is estimated at about $1 million, Uznews.uz reports.

At the regular session of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis, the response of the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Ecology and Environment J. Kazbekov to the parliamentary inquiry of the Legislative Chamber “On the work carried out in our country on the development of green spaces” was considered.

It was noted that during 10 months of 2021, 4,067 citizens and officials illegally felled trees and shrubs. They were imposed fines in the amount of 5 billion 343 million soums, damages in the amount of 10 billion 683 million soums. The offenders have been prosecuted administratively.

They were also fined 3 billion 121 million soums. Reportedly, damage worth 4 billion 004 million soums was recovered.

In response to a parliamentary inquiry, it was noted that as part of the inventory of trees and shrubs not included in the State Forest Fund, 10,412,279 trees were registered, of which 8,544,826 were included in the e-database.

Systematic cleaning and beautification of canals and collectors flowing through all district and city centers of the country is being carried out.

At the meeting, the response of the Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Ecology and Environmental Protection J. Kazbekov to the parliamentary inquiry was accepted by deputies for information.
