Uzbekistan increases budget deficit to 6.5 percent for 2021
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has passed amendments increasing the budget deficit to 6.5 percent of GDP.

This is the second revision of the document in a year. In the initial version, approved by the Senate in December 2020, it was 2.7 percent (18.6 trillion soums).
However, at the end of June 2021, due to increased spending amid pandemic, the parameters were revised: the deficit limits were increased to 5.5 percent of GDP (39.8 trillion soums).
And now it is revised one more time to reach 6.5 percent.
