Woman trying to sell her 5-day-old baby for $5,000 arrested in Syrdarya  

The baby, who became a victim of human trafficking, was handed over to the guardianship authorities, uznews.uz reports.

On October 8 this year, B.A. from Kashkadarya gave birth to a baby girl. On October 13, she agreed to sell her 5-day-old baby for $5,000 to a Syrdarya regional policeman who was involved as an “buyer” during an operative event carried out in Gulistan.

After that, the child was handed over to the policeman. The mother was arrested on the basis of material evidence while receiving a pre-arranged, specially chemically processed money from the “buyer”.

The court examined all the circumstances and sentenced B.A. to five years in prison. The baby was handed over to the guardianship authorities.
