Gov’t plans to increase coverage of preschool education to 80% in 5 years
According to the draft development strategy, it is planned to increase the coverage of preschool education from 62% to 80% in the next 5 years. By 2026, 6-year-old children are expected to be covered by a 100% pre-school education system. For this purpose, it is planned to build more than 7,000 non-governmental institutions and train more than 160,000 staff, Gazeta.uz reports.
The draft Development Strategy for 2022-2026, announced by the Ministry of Justice for public discussion, also pays special attention to education.
In particular, the goal is to increase the coverage of preschool education from the current 62% to at least 80%.
In 2022/2023, it is planned to increase the coverage of 6-year-old children with preschool education to 90%, and by the end of the 2024/2025 school year – 100%.
To this end, it is planned to establish more than 7,000 new non-governmental preschool education organizations by attracting private sector funds to the preschool education system.
At the same time, the aim is to bring the quality of education to a new level in the preschool education system, in particular, the introduction of an improved system of professional training and skills of kindergarten staff.
In 2022-2026, it is planned to improve the skills of more than 160,000 teachers and improve the process of preschool education on the basis of science-based approaches.
Additionally, it is planned to create a single information system to prevent financial irregularities and corruption in the preschool education system.
Proposals for the draft presidential decree providing for these changes can be submitted by January 14.
