Man involved in February 16 bombings in Tashkent arrested

A terrorist wanted for 23 years has been brought to Uzbekistan.

U.S., who has been wanted for 23 years for committing terrorist crimes in Uzbekistan,  was detained abroad and brought to Uzbekistan.

Reportedly, U.S. was born in 1967 in Tashkent region. After training in Chechnya in 1998, he took part in the riots in Tashkent on February 16, 1999, and in March of that year, he went abroad by detours.

Also, U.S. was also involved in sending members of the Islamic Movement of Turkestan from Uzbekistan to militant training camps set up by Chechen Amir Khattab in Chechnya.

In November 2001, the terrorist obtained the citizenship of one of the CIS member states on the basis of forged documents issued under the name of another person and hid himself in the territory of that country.

As a result of search operations conducted by the Uzbek SSS in cooperation with foreign special services, terrorist U.S. was arrested. Currently, an investigation is underway on the criminal case launched against him.
