Fraudster who promised to send Uzbeks to America via Mexico detained
A man has been arrested in Samarkand for promising to send three citizens to the United States via Mexico for $60,000.
48-year-old S.D., living in the Samarkand region, appealed to the law enforcement bodies. Allegedly, citizen D.A. promised him and two more citizens (U.N. and D.F.) arrangement of a passage to the U.S. through Mexico for a fee. This was reported by the press service of the MIA Investigation Department.
According to the applicant, D.A. asked for $60,000 for his services – $20,000 from each.
During an operative event conducted on January 24 by officers of the Samarkand regional DIA and the SSS, citizen D.A. was detained near the “Zilol Bakht” hotel in Samarkand while receiving $60,000 from the applicant.
A criminal case under Paragraph a of Article 168-4 (fraud) of the Criminal Code has been instituted against the detainee. Currently, an investigation is underway.
