This year, a program for the development of EV charging stations will be worked out, the Ministry of Energy said.
The work is being carried out as part of implementing the Development Strategy for New Uzbekistan, adopted at the end of January. The development is planned to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022.
Installation of charging stations is planned in densely populated areas of cities. Some of them will be powered by renewable energy sources.
For the first time, government agencies have taken the initiative to expand the infrastructure for electric vehicles. Previously, only private companies (Megawatt Motors, Makro, TokBor) were engaged in this activity – at the moment they have installed 36 electric charging stations.
It is indicated that the Ministry of Energy will pay special attention to the purchase of equipment from local manufacturers. Shortly before this, a group of Uzbek scientists presented a prototype of an electric filling station with the ability to work from photovoltaic panels.
