SSS officers detained illegal land sellers in regions

In Samarkand, Khorezm and Syrdarya regions, during operative events of the State Security Service and other law enforcement agencies, individuals were detained who were trying to sell land.

A resident of Samarkand (born in 1988) demanded $60,000 from a local businessman in exchange for registration of ownership of 0.5 hectares of land allocated for the construction of a greenhouse in the city. Upon receiving an advance payment of $20,000, he was detained by officers of the SSS and the PGO Department. In the course of the operative event, another person involved in illegal trade, the founder of the LLC, which owned the land plot for sale, was also detained.

In another case, a resident of the Ishtikhan district (born in 1997) was detained, who agreed with a farm manager specialized in horticulture, and received 84 million soums from him in exchange for registering 8.5 hectares of land under the buyer’s name.

A resident of the Yangiarik district, Khorezm region, (born in 1980) introduced himself as the head of the fishing farm of the Beruni district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and promised the client registering 244 hectares of the farm’s land under his name, with the help of high-ranking acquaintances. He was detained by employees of the State Security Service of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the territorial department of the Prosecutor General’s Office while receiving an advance payment of 250 million soums.

A farm head in the Khavast district, Syrdarya region, decided to sell 15 hectares of the farm’s land for $38,000. He was detained while receiving $10,000 from a buyer. In another case, two previously convicted persons promised to register 3 hectares of land in the Yangiyer city under the name of a client. Both were detained while receiving $9,000.

On the above facts, criminal cases have been initiated under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code. An investigation is underway.
