Uzbekistan proposes creating a common collection “Flora of the SCO member states”

During the 6th Meeting of the Heads of Ministries and Departments of Science and Technology of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States held today, Uzbekistan proposed to create a common collection “Flora of the SCO Member States” based on the introduction of a new digital model for automatic recognition of all types of rare and endangered plants in remote regions of the SCO member states with the help of artificial intelligence, a Dunyo correspondent reports.

“In many cases, each state specializes in the protection of rare, endangered, endemic or “Red Book” plants in its territory in accordance with its national legislation. This suggests that the SCO lacks a unified partnership program for the overall conservation of endemic species. If such a cooperation project is launched within the framework of the SCO, it will not only improve research activities, but also preserve rare and endangered species of such plants,” the Minister of Innovative Development of Uzbekistan, Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov, said.
