Uzbekistan’s population density up
According to the State Statistics Committee, as of April 1, 2022, the population density in Uzbekistan was 78.9 people per sq. km.
This is more by 1.6 people compared to the same period last year (77.3 people per 1 sq. km as of April 1, 2021).
Reportedly, the figure was reasonably lower 30 years ago. In 1991, the population density in the country was 46.1 people per sq. km.
As of April 1, 2022, the permanent population of the republic was 35,433,772 people.
Little over 18 million people live in urban areas and 17.4 million – in rural areas.
