Mirziyoyeva made the remarks at an event on demographic stability held jointly with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
She said Uzbekistan’s young generation was the country’s most important asset and that realizing its potential as a source of demographic dividend would require investment in the health, education and safety of every person, particularly women and children.
“We are setting up a demographic forecasting system and plan to develop the ‘Demographic Dividend – 2050’ strategy to ensure that our efforts in this area are targeted and long-term,” Mirziyoyeva wrote.
“The future of our country will be determined not only by the size of its population, but above all by the opportunities available to its people,” she added.
