Export of IT Park residents increased by 3.5 times in Q1

The number of new residents of the technology park has tripled compared to the same period in 2021.

As of April 1, 588 companies were registered in IT Park. Compared to the beginning of the year, 65 residents have been added, Spot reports citing the technopark press service.

In January-March, 80 companies received residency – three times more than in the first quarter of last year. Of these, 23 companies were established at the beginning of the year. In addition, 14 firms lost their status and 43 were rejected.

As before, most of the IT Park residents work in the capital – there are 479 such companies. However, the number of IT companies in the regions grew slightly faster over the quarter – by 18.5% - and reached 109.

For the first quarter, IT Park residents provided services worth 814 billion soums, mainly in software development, data processing, business process automation and training. For the year, the figure rose by 186%, or almost three times.

121 technopark resident companies are engaged in the export of services. Almost half of them are firms in the field of development, the report says.

Exporters in the first quarter earned $17.3 million, increasing revenue by 3.5 times compared to 2021. It is expected to reach $100 million by the end of the year.

The share of the USA in the geographical structure of exports increased to 85.2%. The rest falls on the UK, the UAE, South Korea and the CIS countries.

At the end of 2021, the head of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications Sherzod Shermatov set the task of increasing digital exports to $1 billion. To do this, he recommended simplifying the issuance of visas for IT specialists and technology investors.

The practical implementation of the minister’s instruction was the TashRush program to attract foreign IT workers. Also, special visas and simplified employment were introduced for them.

IT companies from Russia and Belarus, working with foreign clients, began to move to the country. For example, EPAM moved here about 1,000 workers from Russia and Belarus.
