An individual arrested in Surkhandarya for attempting to sell 20 kg of opium for $140,000
The man was detained on his way to a café, where he was going to exchange a package of narcotic drugs for the sum he requested.
In the course of an operative event carried out by employees of the MIA Criminal Investigation Department, the customs committee and the department for combating illicit drug trafficking of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Surkhandarya Regional DIA, citizen B., who was engaged in the sale of a large amount of drugs, was detained, the MIA press service reported.
During the event, a meeting was held with two conditional buyers (employees of the MIA Criminal Investigation Department), who agreed to buy 20 kg of opium from B. for $140,000 in one of the cafés.
Citizen B. was detained at 03:30 on the territory of the Denau district, when he was going to a designated place with drugs.
During the arrest, they found a bag with 20 packages wrapped in adhesive tape, inside of which there was a narcotic substance – opium.
On this fact, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 273-5 (illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage and other actions with narcotic drugs, their analogues or psychotropic substances for the purpose of sale, as well as their resale), Article 246 (smuggling) of the Criminal Code. An investigation is underway.
In accordance with the sanctions of the above articles, the detainee faces a sentence of imprisonment of up to 20 years.
