Uzbekistan and Tajikistan sign agreements worth $570 million 

More than 10 documents were signed at the level of governments and departments, and more than 70 documents worth $570 million were signed between entrepreneurs of the two countries.

At the end of the high-level talks between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, a ceremony of signing and exchanging documents was held. Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emomali Rahmon signed a historic Declaration on strengthening eternal friendship and alliance.

More than 10 documents were signed between the governments, ministries and departments of the two countries, providing for the further expansion of multifaceted Uzbek-Tajik cooperation, including:

• “Roadmap” for the development of bilateral cooperation between the Jizzakh region of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Sughd region of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2022-2023;
• Memorandum of cooperation in the field of sericulture;
• Agreement between the Ministries of Culture on cooperation in the field of culture and art for 2022-2023;
• Memorandum of Cooperation in Combating Money Laundering, Terrorist Financing and Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction;
• Memorandum on cooperation in the field of environmental protection and rational use of the environment;
• Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan;
• “Roadmap” for deepening and expanding cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation.

In addition, as a result of the Forum of Entrepreneurs, which took place on June 1, 75 new cooperation documents were signed for a total of $570 million.

Bilateral agreements provide for further cooperation between entrepreneurs in the mining and processing of iron powder, the construction of a textile factory in Tajikistan, the supply of primary aluminum to Uzbekistan, the production of cotton fiber and refrigerators.

Trade agreements were also signed on expanding foreign economic activity between entrepreneurs of the two countries for a total of $258 million.

In general, taking into account the results of the trade-economic forum, investment and economic projects worth more than $1 billion will be implemented.
