Uzbekistan receives permission to transit goods through Turkmenistan

Since June 1, foreign states have been allowed to carry out transit cargo transportation through the territory of Turkmenistan.

According to the Transport Ministry of Uzbekistan, drivers of vehicles of foreign states move around the country through the checkpoints “Serakhs (Iran) – Serakhs (Turkmenistan)”, “Farab (Turkmenistan) – Olot (Uzbekistan)” and “Sarakhs (Turkmenistan) – Sarakhs (Iran)”. 

Transit cargo transportation across the country is carried out in compliance with the following requirements and conditions:

- drivers of vehicles of foreign states are required to provide all the documents necessary for registration of the process of transit traffic when crossing the state border of Turkmenistan to undergo special sanitary procedures;
- motor vehicles are subjected to sanitary treatment in accordance with the established procedure;
- when crossing the border, you must provide a negative PCR test (passed at least 72 hours before crossing the state border), a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19 (at least 42 days from the date of the last vaccination);
- taking an express test for COVID-19 at border checkpoints;
- cargo transportation through the territory of Turkmenistan will be carried out by moving as part of the organizational set of cars (trucks);
- convoys of trucks will be formed at a distance of 1 kilometer from the Uzbek-Iranian border;
- the creation of the motorcade starts at 08:00 in the morning;
- a convoy of trucks is carried out under the control of special vehicles of the traffic police. While driving, drivers are prohibited from parking and leaving the cab;
- during the movement of freight vehicles as part of a column, stops are provided only at specially designated parking lots for drivers to rest, maintain vehicles, refuel and purchase necessary food products;
- in the event of malfunctions or other problems during the movement, the corresponding vehicles are separated from the convoy. In this situation, employees of the internal affairs bodies, together with the Turkmen Road Transport Agency, provide practical assistance in solving the problem.
