Bill: Internship of students of medical universities in state institutions will be paid

A draft presidential decree on additional measures for training highly qualified personnel in medicine, further development of medical and pharmaceutical education and science has been submitted for discussion. 

According to the project, starting from the 2022/2023 academic year, the IFOM (International Foundations of Medicine) system for conducting qualifying exams based on international standards for assessing the theoretical and practical knowledge of students of medical higher and secondary educational institutions will be gradually introduced.

Students who pass this exam successfully will be able to enter the magistracy and clinical residency without exams. 

It is noted that undergraduate, graduate and clinical residency students will be provided with a one-year paid internship in state medical organizations.

It is also proposed to allow graduate students of both bachelor and master degrees, clinical residency to work as doctors in the emergency medical service by referral.

In addition, 27 medical colleges will be transformed into public health colleges named after Abu Ali ibn Sino.

The public health colleges named after Abu Ali ibn Sina will establish a system for training medical personnel, based on the types and levels of medical institutions, the volume of services provided, and their competencies.

In particular, at the end of a year of study, graduates will be able to work as junior medical workers and medical-social workers in the patronage system, in medical-social assistance teams.

Upon completion of the two-year training, graduates will be able to work as nurses of general practice in rural medical centers, family polyclinics, and multidisciplinary central polyclinics.

After 3 years of study in medical schools, graduates will be able to work as nurses in hospitals, including maternity complexes, centers and clinics.
