Japan to allocate more than $2.7 million in grants for students from Uzbekistan

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide new scholarships for students from Uzbekistan, the press service of the Ministry of Higher Education writes.

The parties agreed on this at a meeting in Tashkent on 4 July. The head of the ministry, Abdukadir Tashkulov, received the Japanese delegation headed by Ambassador Yoshinori Fujiyama and the head of the JICA office, Suguru Miyazaki.

Following the meeting, the parties concluded an agreement on additional scholarships for personnel training. For these purposes, JICA will allocate a grant of $2.76 million.

According to the Ministry of Higher Education, within the framework of the project, 18 young civil servants will study at Japanese universities in master's programs, and one more - in doctoral studies.

Tashkulov thanked the Japanese side for its contribution to the development of the education sector in Uzbekistan and expressed hope for further cooperation.
