Nurmat Otabekov warns about iodine deficiency problem in all regions of Uzbekistan
Despite many years of struggle, the problem of iodine deficiency has not yet been fully resolved in many countries of the world, including Uzbekistan.
This was announced at an AIMC briefing by Deputy Head of the Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Service Nurmat Otabekov.
According to him, diseases associated with iodine deficiency can be exposed to in all regions of Uzbekistan - iodine deficiency is observed in the diet of the population.
Iodine deficiency disease is a pathological condition that is a process associated with thyroid dysfunction and insufficient iodine intake.
Nurmat Otabekov stressed that despite the long-term fight against iodine deficiency, the problem of iodine deficiency has not yet been fully resolved in many countries of the world, including Uzbekistan.
Currently, in the conditions of Uzbekistan, there is no region where the population would not be at risk of diseases associated with iodine deficiency, since iodine deficiency in the diet of the population has been observed in all the studied regions of the republic.
It also became known that there are 102 enterprises that produce table salt in the republic. In the course of inspections, it turned out that a number of enterprises do not iodize table salt sufficiently or not at all.
