Sardor Umurzakov receives ECO Secretary General

Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov received the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Khusrav Noziri, who is in our country as part of the 7th meeting of the Ministers of Agriculture of the ECO member countries in Tashkent. 

According to the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade (MIFT), during the conversation, Khusrav Noziri stressed that Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the ECO contributes to the further expansion and strengthening of partnerships within the organization. Work is systematically continuing on the timely implementation of the adopted “Roadmap” as part of the implementation of the Concept of Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the ECO.

The issues of holding joint events
within the framework of the organization included in the ECO calendar for 2022, including the 26th meeting of the Council of FMs in November 2022 in Tashkent, were considered.

During the meeting, issues of overcoming the challenges associated with the disruption of supply chains and the ongoing global pandemic were also discussed. The prospects for the adoption of joint coordinated measures for the systematic restoration of transport communications and trade in the region were considered.

In a constructive manner, the parties considered issues of strengthening cooperation to develop the transit potential of the ECO region. To this end, it is planned to intensify the implementation of transport and communication projects that will facilitate the free movement of goods and services, as well as improve the conditions and quality of life of the population.

Following the meeting, mutual commitment was confirmed to further joint actions to transfer all the discussed initiatives and agreements to the plane of practical implementation.
