Number of non-state universities in Uzbekistan reaches 42
Over the past period of 2022, licenses were issued to 8 non-governmental organizations of higher education, the head of the State Inspectorate for Supervising Quality of Education Ulugbek Tashkenbayev reported.

It is noted that one of the tasks of the 41st goal of the New Development Strategy of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026 is to increase the share of organizations providing non-state educational services up to 8% in 2026, including up to 3% in 2022, by expanding the conditions and opportunities for them.
The 49th goal set the task of increasing the number of non-governmental organizations of higher education to at least 50 by 2026, in particular, in 2022, to create at least 1 non-governmental organization of higher education in Navoi, Samarkand, Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya regions and the city of Tashkent.
Over the past period of 2022, licenses were issued to 8 non-governmental organizations of higher education. Private universities began to work this year in such regions as Kashkadarya, Bukhara, Namangan, Samarkand, where there was not any single non-governmental organization of higher education.
It is reported that at present, in cooperation with local governments, the necessary work is being carried out in Surkhandarya, Syrdarya regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan, where there is no non-governmental organization of higher education.
To date, the number of non-governmental organizations of higher education licensed by the inspection has reached 42.
