Parliamentary commission meets with Dauletmurat Tajimuratov

Members of the parliamentary commission investigating the July events in Karakalpakstan visited the investigative detention center No. 11 in the city of Urganch, Khorezm region, and studied the conditions of living, feeding, access to medical services and short-term meetings with lawyers and close relatives of the persons detained there, the press service of the Ombudsman’s Office reported.
The Ombudsman Feruza Eshmatova, who heads the commission, and other members of the commission talked to the detained persons, including Dauletmurat Tajimuratov, one of the main defendants in the criminal case initiated in connection with these events.
“During the meeting, Tajimuratov informed that he was provided with a lawyer and that there were no objections to his meeting with him, he had a short meeting with family members, and he was receiving parcels,” the report said.
Tajimuratov stated that there was no torture, pressure or harassment during the investigation and in the detention center, and he had no objections to the quality of food and other conditions in the detention center.
“During the visit, the commission members witnessed that the suspects’ rights were not violated in the investigative detention center and in the course of the investigative process; mental and physical torture was not allowed,” the commission said in its report.
For information, Dauletmurat Tajimuratov’s whereabouts are reported for the first time.
