Uzbekistan, Serbia sign a Protocol on cooperation and inter-MFA consultations

On the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, Vladimir Norov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Nikola Selakovich.

According to the Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, issues of building up bilateral cooperation in the fields of politics, trade, investment, education, as well as the development of cultural-humanitarian dialogue were discussed. Certain aspects of the planned events and visits at various levels were considered.

In order to effectively realize the significant trade and economic potential of Uzbekistan and Serbia, it was proposed to take joint measures to expand the range of goods, create and hold a meeting of the sectoral Uzbek-Serbian Intergovernmental Commission, and implement investment projects in agriculture, the chemical industry and energy.

An agreement was reached to study the issues of signing a number of bilateral agreements on the protection and promotion of investments, attraction of labor resources, cooperation in agriculture, certification, as well as on interaction in the field of science and technology.

Tourism is designated as a promising area of cooperation. The possibilities of participation of Serbian investors in the implementation of projects for the construction of a new and reconstruction of the existing tourism infrastructure in Uzbekistan were considered.

The parties expressed their interest in developing contacts between higher educational institutions and research institutes, cultural and health institutions.

Following the meeting, the Protocol on cooperation and consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Serbia was signed, which regulates the holding of political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
