Uzbekistan ranked 73rd in the Global Food Security Index

Uzbekistan took the 73rd place among 113 countries in the Global Food Security Index in 2022, the press service of the Institute of Forecasting and Macroeconomic Research reports. 

The Global Food Security Index (GFSI) is compiled annually by the Economist Intelligence Unit, an analytical agency with support from Corteva Agriscience. GFSI - 2022 was published on September 20 of this year and is the 11th edition of the index.

The index examines food access, availability and security, as well as natural resources and sustainability in 113 countries around the world. According to the results of the analysis, in the general ranking for 2019-2022, Uzbekistan rose twelve positions and in 2022, took the 73rd place among 113 countries.

“Thus, Uzbekistan took the 1st place among the 10 countries with the highest growth rates in terms of food security in 2019-2022,” the report said.

In addition, Uzbekistan rose by 18 positions in the “Economic Accessibility” category, 3 positions in the “Quality and Safety” category, and 36 positions in the “Stability and Adaptability” category.

According to the report, in order to improve Uzbekistan’s position in the ranking, increasing the supply of food in the domestic market, ensuring the diversification of import supply, developing national recommendations on healthy eating, introducing food labeling and other activities will be accelerated.
