A meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Oman with the Sales and International Affairs Director of the Salam Air company Mazin Al Salmani and managers of this airline Kulthoom Al Balushi and Khalid Al Riyami.
The purpose of the meeting was to increase the flow of foreign tourists to Uzbekistan, expand the volume and geography of exports of products manufactured in the republic to the markets of Oman and the GCC countries, Dunyo IA reported.
The participants in the negotiations were informed in detail about the development of the tourist services market in our country, new facilities under construction and commissioning, as well as measures taken to further attract foreign air carriers to the airports of Uzbekistan.
In particular, representatives of Salam Air were provided with information on the commissioning of a new international airport in Samarkand, the amenities created there, including the “open skies” regime from October 1 this year.
According to Mazin Al Salmani, Uzbekistan has every chance to become an important transport hub in Central Asia. For this reason, he announced that Salam Air is considering the issue of launching a charter and then regular flights (probably from November this year) on the Muscat-Tashkent route.
The official noted that at the moment all conditions have been created for flights, and the agreement between the two countries on the establishment of direct flights that entered into force serves as a legal basis.
It should be noted that on May 11, 2020, the Intergovernmental Agreement on Air Transport came into force. According to the agreements, Salam Air is the air carrier from Oman.
In this regard, Mazin Al Salmani expressed his readiness to hold online negotiations with the Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan and other responsible organizations and leading travel companies of the republic to discuss issues of quality passenger service and prospects for further cooperation.
