“Earlier, access to the Kempir-Abad dam was only for citizens of Uzbekistan. Now there will be joint management: four people from Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. For 70 years, the decision on the use of water was taken by Uzbekistan independently. Now the citizens of Kyrgyzstan will have free access to water: they will be able to water, water livestock, fish, and even pump water. Uzbekistan will not be able to install engineering structures,” Tashiev said.

In total, Uzbekistan received 4,485 ha and Kyrgyzstan – 19,699 ha.

“I can’t say that we are winners, but we didn’t give up a single meter. On the contrary, they received additional areas on which there were questions. Some people say that we got bad lands, but in fact they are very good, fertile lands. There is even gold there. Uzbekistan once issued six licenses. Despite this, we received these lands,” the head of the State Committee for National Security said.

After the ratification of the agreement, the map of Kyrgyzstan will increase by 15,806 hectares.
