Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Mansurbek Kilichev met with Egypt’s Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam to discuss preparations for an upcoming visit, the agency reported. The talks focused on arrangements for an Uzbek government delegation, along with dozens of farmers and entrepreneurs, to visit Egypt from September 14 to 20.
Sewilam said Egypt is ready to host bilateral talks and share its expertise in water resources management, while noting Egypt’s keen interest in studying Uzbekistan’s experience in ensuring water security, according to the report.
He stressed the need to implement the 2009 Memorandum of Understanding signed by the two countries’ water authorities. So far, he noted, bilateral cooperation in the sector has largely been limited to participation in international forums.
Following the talks, the minister reaffirmed his full commitment to providing the assistance needed to ensure the success of the Uzbek delegation’s upcoming visit.
