“We want to exchange ideas on implementation of reforms in development strategy in real life” – Jamshid Kuchkarov

“During the two-day event, we want to exchange ideas with you on the implementation of reforms included in the Development Strategy in real life and achievement of the set goals,” Deputy PM Jamshid Kuchkarov said to participants of the II Uzbekistan Economic Forum.

The II Uzbekistan Economic Forum started its work in Samarkand. More than a thousand guests are participating in it.

The leaders of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International Monetary Fund, Asian Infrastructural Investment Bank and the economic block of the Government of Uzbekistan gathered at the forum.

At the opening of the forum, Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s press secretary Sherzod Asadov read out the presidential address to the forum participants.

“In 2022-2026, we aim to achieve inclusive and sustainable economic growth, develop human capital, and reduce poverty by at least 2 times,” the presidential address reads.

It was noted that 6 priority tasks have been set to achieve the above goals. These are:

•  Special attention is paid to radically increasing the role of the private sector in the economy, supporting entrepreneurship, improving the environment for investment and healthy competition;
•  In order to increase the quality of life of the population and further improve the living conditions, large-scale programs for the development of the infrastructure of each neighborhood are being implemented;
•  Particular importance is attached to the full coverage of the poor and needy strata of the population with the targeted social protection system, and the expansion of the scope of their comprehensive support.
•  Measures are being taken to ensure the macroeconomic stability of the country and curb the rate of inflation in the conditions of the dangerous situation that has arisen in foreign markets and partner countries;
•  The focus is on creating sustainable systems of product production and ensuring food safety;
•  Expansion of trade-economic and investment cooperation with all partner countries is one of the main directions of reforms.

After that, Deputy PM – Minister of Economic Development and Poverty Reduction Jamshid Kuchkarov spoke about the tasks expected from the forum.

“The first forum was dedicated to the summary of reforms implemented during the previous five years and future plans. Also, more than fifty agreements on privatization, public-private partnership, credit lines and other areas of cooperation were signed within this forum.

At the same time, the discussions and meetings at last year’s forum gave confidence to propose a new approach, ideas and bold goals to the Development Strategy of New Uzbekistan for 2022-2026.

This year’s forum is a logical continuation of the previous one. During the next two-day event, we want to exchange ideas with you on the implementation of the reforms included in the Development Strategy in real life and the achievement of the set goals,” Kuchkarov said.

The forum includes 11 sessions and will continue on November 4 as well.
