Deputy governor of Khazorasp district imprisoned for 6 years
The former deputy governor of Khazorasp district (Khorezm region) was sentenced to 6 years in prison for accepting a $12,000 bribe in connection with land allocation.

Shakhzod Vaisov, the senior investigator of the Khorezm Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Department of Combating Organized Crime and Corruption, provided information about corruption crimes committed in the region.
In accordance with the details of the criminal case, in March 2022, the deputy governor of Khazorasp district, U.A., was detained while accepting a bribe of $12,000 dollars.
“The deputy governor of Khazorasp district ordered not to demolish the illegally built residential buildings in Kirktepa neighborhood of the district and promised a citizen to allocate 1800 sq.m. land area for residential construction and formalize the necessary documents through his acquaintances in the district administration and cadastral department. In exchange, he demanded $12,000 in bribe. The fraudster was arrested upon receiving the agreed amount. According to the court’s verdict, he was deprived of his freedom for 6 years,” Vaisov said.
Also, according to the statement of the senior investigator, the prosecutor’s office of Khorezm region prosecuted 62 officials of various levels in 2021, and 52 - in 9 months of 2022 for committing crimes related to corruption. More than 30 billion soums of material damage was caused to the interests of the state and citizens. During the investigation, recovery of 19 billion soums (or 63%) was ensured.
At the same time, in 9 months of 2021 and 2022, investigations carried out by the prosecutor’s office revealed more than 16 billion soums of looting.
