Parking meters to be installed in Tashkent city center
Paid parking spaces for 2,251 cars will be organized along 10 central streets of Tashkent. The General Department of Transport of the city announced some details in this regard.

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to install 57 parking meters, purchase 2 tow trucks and 2 parking lots. Parkon is a light vehicle equipped with a device that automatically registers violations of parking rules and patrols streets with parking meters.
The list of streets where parking meters will be established on the basis of public-private partnership was approved by the presidential decree of February 2, 2022, and they are as follows: Glinka, Bratislava, Mirabad, Avliyo ota, Taras Shevchenko, Said Baraka, Moshtabib, Fidokor, Sodik Azimov, Yakub Kolas streets.
The Department of Transport has presented plans for paid parking to be established on these 10 streets.
For example, 11 parking meters will be installed from the beginning to the end of Mirabad Street (from the Mirabad Dekhkan Market to Kosmonavtlar Metro). These parking lots will have 385 parking spaces, 35 of which will be designated for people with disabilities.
According to the project, 5% of the paid parking spaces will be reserved for persons with disabilities, and the use of these spaces by others is prohibited. It is planned to make the use of roadside parking lots free of charge for persons with disabilities.
According to the Tashkent City Transport Department, studies conducted abroad have shown that paying cars along the road can reduce traffic jams by 10%.
It should be recalled that the presidential decree set a deadline of November 1, 2022 for the establishment of parking meters on 10 streets.
Based on another decision of the head of state, it is planned to establish 5 parking meters every year in 2023-2026. Also, construction of 5 multi-story or underground parking lots is planned every year around the big markets.
