Car sales showed downward trend in October
According to the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, the total number of motor vehicles sold in October was 112,700, which is 8% less than in September, the press service of the center reported.
Since the beginning of the year, 1.2 million cars have been sold, which is twice as much (+604 thousand) compared to the same period last year.
In October, sales of motor vehicles in the primary market increased by 2% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, there was a significant decrease in sales compared to September of this year.
In particular, in October, sales of new domestically produced passenger cars decreased by 33% to 17,000, while sales increased by only 1.5% compared to the same period last year.
In October, car sales on the secondary market decreased by 1.4% (91.7 thousand cars) compared to September of this year.
Car import
According to the State Statistics Committee data, during the past 10 months, the volume of imports amounted to $24.6 billion and 121.2% compared to the corresponding period of 2021. Machines and transport equipment (31.6%), industrial goods (19.3%) and chemicals and similar products (13.9%) accounted for the largest share of imports.
In particular, in the past 10 months, $55.4 million was spent on the import of electric cars, and 1,749 units were imported.
This is 1,136 more than the corresponding period in 2021. Since the beginning of the year, the most electric cars have been imported from China (1,528 units), the UAE (111 units) and Germany (48 units).
