More than 79,000 vehicles of all types were sold in August, roughly matching the July figure. Sales were slightly lower than in June, according to a report by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms.
Passenger car sales rose 2.2% month on month to 62,500 units. However, compared with August 2025, demand fell by 30%.
Automotive activity increased in nine regions during the month. The largest month-on-month gains were recorded in Bukhara region, where sales rose 19.1%, followed by Tashkent region at 11.9% and Khorezm at 10.8%.
Tashkent city recorded the sharpest decline, with sales falling 10% compared with July. Sales in Andijan region decreased by 2.7%, while Fergana region saw a 2.1% decline.
New and used car market
Sales of new vehicles rose by slightly more than 20% month on month to 30,600 units. Despite the monthly increase, sales were down 18.6% year on year.
Local manufacturers accounted for most of the monthly growth, with their sales increasing by a quarter to 25,300 vehicles. However, this was still more than 7,000 vehicles below the level recorded a year earlier.
Sales of foreign-made vehicles rose 7% month on month to 5,300 units.
The used-car market moved in the opposite direction. About 32,000 used vehicles were sold in August, down 10.8% from July and nearly 40% from a year earlier.
Electric vehicles were the main exception to the broader annual decline. EV sales increased 44.5% year on year to 9,200 units.
Tashkent continued to dominate the electric vehicle market, accounting for more than two-thirds of all EV sales, at 6,300 vehicles. Fergana region ranked second with 662 EVs sold, followed by Tashkent region with 455.
