Three days after the wedding, a young bride and groom died in Buvaida district of Fergana as a result of gas poisoning. The incident happened on November 24.

The reason for the tragedy was the self-made stove, which was installed in a non-standard way. It led to the spread of gas inside the house.

Their bodies were found by the man’s father, who was shocked by the incident.

According to the head of the district emergency situations department, the village they lived in was a non-gasified area.

The prosecutor's office of the Buvaida district is conducting a pre-investigation check.

Death toll from gas poisoning is rising with the looming of winter, as it always does. People are forced to use hand-made appliances to heat their homes. This is due to constant power outages and a lack of gas in many areas across the country.

Earlier, the Energy Ministry official said Uzbekistan is short of natural gas to produce more electricity. In the meantime, it became known that the country sold almost $1 billion worth of gas to China in 2022, which is considerably more than the same period last year.
