7 thousand 636 traffic accidents occurred in Uzbekistan in January-October. Senator Kutbiddin Burkhanov informed about this at the meeting on road safety in the Senate, Daryo.uz reports.
Kutbiddin Burkhanov said that despite the measures being taken, the number of accidents leading to death remains high.
In the last ten months of 2022, 7 thousand 636 accidents occurred, in which 7 thousand 174 citizens were injured and 1 thousand 931 citizens died, 226 of them were young children.
“This situation worries all of us equally. We are talking about the death of more than 200 children, but it is a tragedy even if one child dies in such a way in peacetime. Therefore, the issue of ensuring road safety will never skip from the agenda and, of course, it will be under the constant control of the Senate Committee on Defense and Security,” the publication quoted Kutbiddin Burkhanov as saying.
For information, 7,681 traffic accidents occurred in the republic in January-October 2021. As a result, 1,964 people died, 6,886 people were injured. 3,441 of the accident participants were pedestrians, and 1,268 were children.
