According to the Ministry of Energy, in accordance with the protocol, which was signed on March 11, 2021, between the Ministry of Energy and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Water Resources of Uzbekistan, the mutual supply of electricity is carried out, in agreement with the schedules approved by the parties.
“Taking into account that low water was observed in the Central Asian region, in order to prevent the Toktogul reservoir from depleting to a critical level, in accordance with the agreements between the economic entities of the parties, electric energy produced from Turkmen gas was supplied to the Kyrgyz Republic,” the report reads.
At the same time, in accordance with the agreements on a contractual basis, transit of electricity from Turkmenistan to the Kyrgyz Republic through the energy system of Uzbekistan is carried out based on the capacity of the energy systems.
It is noted that the economic entities of the parties signed relevant contracts aimed at ensuring the transit of Turkmen electric energy in 2023.
“Cooperation between the ministries of energy and energy companies of the two countries is carried out on the principles of mutual respect and consistency in the mode of operation of energy systems,” the conclusion says.
