Uzbekistan participates in largest world agricultural exhibition in Berlin
On Thursday, the exhibition was opened as part of the “Green Week 2023” in the capital of Germany, where the “Made in Uzbekistan” stand was presented.
It was from the stand of Uzbekistan that Cem Özdemir, the Federal Minister of Food and Agriculture of Germany, Janusz Wojciechowski, the Commissioner of the European Union for Agriculture, Franziska Giffay, the mayor of Berlin and other distinguished guests began their tour of the exhibition. They were met by a delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by Minister Aziz Voitov. The Uzbek side conducted a tour of the “Made in Uzbekistan” stand, presented its products, introduced the directions of agricultural production in our country. The guests showed interest in the stand of Uzbekistan and expressed their readiness for further cooperation.
It should be noted that the stand of Uzbekistan with an area of 240 square meters presents national products from more than 60 entrepreneurs from the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions of the country and the city of Tashkent. Among them: 227 types of agricultural and food products - fresh and processed fruits and vegetables, processed dairy and meat products, fat and oil products, soft drinks, confectionery, flour and flour products, margarine products and others.
The delegation of Uzbekistan spent a busy day meeting with the Ministers of Agriculture of the Netherlands, Canada, Georgia, Poland, Mongolia, Latvia and Kazakhstan. At the same time, high-level meetings were held with the World Bank, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
Agreements were reached on the mutual exchange of experience in the areas of food production, animal husbandry, winemaking, growing grain and fodder crops, and others. It is planned to organize business missions of entrepreneurs from Holland, Poland, Latvia and Canada to Uzbekistan. Particular attention is paid to the development of scientific cooperation for the cultivation of new types of crops in the conditions of Uzbekistan, as well as advanced training of scientists within the framework of programs funded by international organizations. All partners expressed their readiness to increase cooperation in the field of food security.
A memorandum of cooperation was signed with the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Poland Henryk Kowalczyk, which provides for establishing a dialogue between entrepreneurs, strengthening ties between research institutes, exchanging experience in the fields of seed production, greenhouses, digitalization and others.
Following the results of the first day of the exhibition, export contracts were signed for the supply of freeze-dried and dried fruits and vegetables to German stores, the construction of a refrigerated warehouse in Uzbekistan jointly with the German company “Girlos Engineering”, and the organization of fruit and vegetable processing on a cooperative basis by “Buchers”.
