Law enforcement agencies prevent illegal trade in potent drugs worth 650 million soums in Tashkent
16,108 units of Zardex and Tropicamid potent drugs were confiscated from 5 detained young people.
Reportedly, in December 2022, employees of the MIA Department for Combating Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic and Psychotropic Drugs received information that a native of the Bakhmal district of the Jizzakh region, citizen Umid, who lives in the capital’s Yangikhayot district, intended to sell a large batch of potent drug in the Tashkent region and the city of Tashkent.
An operative event was held on January 26, during which a student (born in 2002) and his accomplices (born in 1998 and 1995) were caught red-handed, while trying to sell 3,000 units of Zardex potent drug for $3,500 in the capital’s Chilanzar district.
The operative-search group also detained two persons (born in 1993 and 1991), who were guarding the detainees in their car.
With the participation of attesting witnesses, a house was searched in the Chilanzar district, where the suspect temporarily lived. Another 12,000 units of Zardex and 1,108 units of Tropicamid were found in the bedroom.
During the operative-search activities, a total of 16,108 units of Zardex and Tropicamid drugs, which are valued at 649,440,000 soums on the black market, were seized from 5 detainees.
During the preliminary investigation, the identity of the citizen who delivered the prohibited goods to Tashkent was established. Currently, an investigation is ongoing.
