Senate approves Furkat Siddikov as Uzbekistan’s new ambassador to the USA
First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Furkat Siddikov will become the new ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States. Javlon Vahobov, who has been in charge of the diplomatic mission in the USA since 2017, is expected to join the MFA team in Tashkent.
On March 3, the Senate of Oliy Majlis approved the candidacy of Furkat Siddikov for the position of Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the United States.
Siddikov was born on February 7, 1971, in Tashkent. In 1993, he graduated from Tashkent State Technical University.
He worked as an attaché (2002-2007) and first secretary (2011-2015) at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the USA. From 2015 to 2020, he headed Uzbekistan’s diplomatic mission in Pakistan.
Furkat Siddikov has been working as First Deputy FM since November 2022.
For information, since 2017, the diplomatic mission of Uzbekistan in the USA has been headed by Javlon Vahobov. According to Gazeta.uz, he is now expected to return to the MFA as First Deputy Foreign Minister.
