Constitutional Court begins reviewing draft constitutional law

The Constitutional Court began to consider the decision of the Legislative Chamber “On holding the referendum of Uzbekistan on the draft constitutional law on the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.

The Constitutional Court of Uzbekistan has received a request to determine the constitutionality of the decision No. 3017-IV of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis on March 10, 2023 “On holding a referendum of Uzbekistan on the draft constitutional law on the Constitution of Uzbekistan”, the Constitutional Court reports. 

The Constitutional Court of Uzbekistan examined the application of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis and its annexes for compliance with the requirements for an application to the Constitutional Court established by Article 29 of the constitutional law “On the Constitutional Court of Uzbekistan”, determined that it meets these requirements and concluded that this application can be considered.

In accordance with Article 33 of the constitutional law “On the Constitutional Court of Uzbekistan”, the Constitutional Court issued a ruling on accepting the decision of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis for review and, in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution of Uzbekistan and the constitutional law “On the Constitutional Court of Uzbekistan”, the decision of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis  started to review.

The open hearing of the Constitutional Court to determine the compliance of the decision of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis “On holding the referendum of Uzbekistan on the draft of the constitutional law “On the Constitution of Uzbekistan” with the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan was set to be held on March 13, 2023.
