Over 5,200 people held accountable for failure to fulfill parental responsibilities in 2022
Last year, the parents of 652 children were deprived of parental rights, more than 11,000 children were placed in children’s institutions, and 13 orphanages ceased to operate, the National Children’s Commission reported.
According to the National Commission on Children’s Issues, last year, 5,227 parents were held administratively liable for failing to fulfill their duties of raising and educating children.
Parents of 652 children were deprived of parental rights for abuse of parental rights, refusal to raise children and protect their interests. Thus, proper control was established over 29 situations, widespread on social networks, related to discrimination of the rights and interests of children.
It is also determined to carry out individual preventive work with 2,054 children and 1,306 parents.
11,162 children left without care and supervision were placed in families and children’s institutions.
412 children who did not receive birth certificates on time were given these documents. In addition, it was found that 528 children did not receive certificates, in this regard, appropriate measures are being taken.
It is noted that last year the activities of 13 orphan houses, 4 children’s towns and 2 orphanages were terminated due to the fact that orphans and children left without parental care were transferred to their families and close relatives for upbringing.
In 2022, 397 houses were purchased for orphans and children left without parental care who need housing. For these purposes, 57 billion soums were allocated from the state budget.
The “Mehr Daftari” system has also been established to assist in the realization of the desires of orphans and children left without parental care. The Fund was allocated 86.1 billion soums.
Following the meeting of the Senate Committee on Youth, Culture and Sports, an appropriate decision was made to eliminate existing shortcomings, approve the National Strategy for deinstitutionalization of the system for the placement of children left without parental care in Uzbekistan in 2023-2030, as well as the relevant Action Plan and interaction with executives.
