700 million soums to be allocated for repair of Tashkent irrigation-drainage system
The relevant decision was signed by Shavkat Umrzakov, the acting governor of Tashkent on April 7.
According to the document, funds in the amount of 700 million soums will be allocated from the reserve fund of the capital budget for the repair of the sewerage and drainage system, laying of new concrete trays.
The above measures are taken to prevent flooding during rains.
It should be recalled that earlier the acting governor of Tashkent, Shavkat Umrzakov, promised to solve the problem of flooding of the streets.
Also, it was reported that on April 5, under the chairmanship of the President, a meeting dedicated to the construction of residential buildings in the New Uzbekistan blocks and the implementation of the mortgage program in 2023 was held.
At the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the Tashkent city administration and the Ministry of Construction to adopt a program to solve the problem of the drainage system within two weeks.
In May 2022, the city administration reported that the existing drainage system in the capital was designed in the early 1970s and was put into use until the 1990s. At that time, it became known that an Uzbek scientist living in the USA would deal with the problem of flooding the streets of Tashkent. There is no result yet.
Two hours of rain yesterday caused a collapse in the sewerage system across the city. The city administration explained this by the fact that the existing drainage networks in the city of Tashkent cannot withstand heavy rains.
