Media: There are cases of corruption at checkpoints on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border
Reportedly, Kyrgyz border guards were charging 100, 200, 300 Kyrgyz soms to cross the border.
At the meeting of the Kyrgyz Parliament, deputy Irisbek Otajonov spoke about the corruption on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border.
According to him, border guards are extorting money for crossing citizens.
“There is information that citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan are charged 100, 200, 300 Kyrgyz soms for crossing the border. Communicate with employees. They should not embarrass the state by extorting money,” Irisbek Otajonov said.
Cases of extortion by border guards on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border were already known, for example, it was reported at the “Dostlik” post of Kyrgyzstan that permission to cross the border starts from 50,000 Uzbek soums.
