Bahrom Kuchkarov, the deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission, clarified that the funds will be allocated for each candidate, not for a political party.
“As there are currently 4 candidates, funds will be allocated to these 4 nominees. Since one candidate is nominated by two parties, it is possible to use the money allocated to that candidate. The “MilliyTiklanish” party, within the funds allocated to one candidate, may or may not participate in the campaign,” he said.
The member of the commission, Khudoyor Mamatov, explained the process of allocating money for the campaign to the candidates.
“In accordance with Article 64 of the Electoral Code, there are documents submitted by political parties for presidential candidates. These are the application, the minutes of the congress of the political party, the application of the candidate's consent to be nominated by this party, and the collected signatures.
The Central Election Commission examines the candidates and registers 4 candidates from 4 parties. Based on the number of registered candidates, money is allocated for the election campaign. The four candidates will be allocated the same amount of air time, the same publication space, and the same funds from the state budget,” he said.
The extraordinary presidential election in Uzbekistan is scheduled to be held on July 9, 2023.
According to the legislation, campaigning is an activity carried out during the election campaign aimed at encouraging voters to vote in favor of a candidate or a political party.
