Chinese company to build solar power plant in Andijan region
Construction will begin in September, and the station will reach full capacity by November 2024.
PowerChina will build a 400 MW photovoltaic power station in the Andijan region, the Ministry of Energy reports.
The corresponding agreement was signed on July 31 by the Ministry of Energy, the administration of the Andijan region and PowerChina International Group Limited.
Construction work will begin in September. By April 1, 2024, the first 100 MW of the station will be commissioned, and by November 30, the plant will reach its full capacity.
The solar farm will annually produce 700 million kWh of electricity. This will save 212 million cubic meters of natural gas, as well as prevent the emission of 294 thousand tons of harmful greenhouse gases.
The Ministry of Energy noted that land plots not used for growing agricultural products were selected for the construction of the solar power plant.
