Uzbekistan’s Foreign Ministry said the delay followed negotiations involving the ministry, the Uzbek Embassy in Cairo and Egyptian officials. The parties agreed to revisit an earlier decision to tighten entry procedures for Uzbek nationals.
Until the new requirements take effect, Uzbek citizens can continue traveling to Egypt under the existing arrangements.
The ministry said it would continue working with foreign partners to expand travel opportunities for Uzbek citizens, secure visa-free access and simplify existing travel procedures.
It also urged citizens traveling abroad to comply with local laws and visa and migration requirements, and to respect the national values, traditions and public order of their destination countries.
“Every citizen’s responsible conduct abroad helps strengthen Uzbekistan’s positive image and further develop the country’s international cooperation,” the ministry said.
Earlier reports said the stricter rules were due to take effect on November 1. Under the reported changes, Uzbek citizens would no longer be able to enter the Sinai Peninsula, including Sharm el-Sheikh, without obtaining a visa in advance.
The reported requirements also included booking trips through tour operators, requiring travelers under 40 to be accompanied by family members, and providing proof of sufficient funds.
The postponement means the new requirements will not take effect before March 1, 2027.
