According to the Dunyo news agency, Uzbek Consul General in Istanbul Sherzod Abdunazarov discussed the project with Bakırköy district governor Ayşegül Ovalıoğlu.

The school is intended to help children of Uzbek citizens living in Turkey maintain their national identity, cultural values and native language.

The foundation stone was laid in January 2026 in the presence of the presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkey. Since then, work has focused on securing the necessary approvals and preparing the school’s design.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to move the project forward as quickly as possible. The Bakırköy administration pledged to assist with the construction and organizational work.
