Court sentences blogger Abdukodir Muminov to 7 years and 3 months in prison
Abdukodir Muminov, who was accused of extortion, fraud and other crimes, has been sentenced to 7 years and 3 months in prison. He is prohibited to engage in journalistic (blogging) activities for 3 years.
Today in Mirabad district court on criminal cases, a trial against blogger Abdukodir Muminov was completed and the verdict was announced.
In accordance with the court’s decision, Muminov was found guilty of committing the following crimes:
• Violation of privacy (Paragraph "a", Part 2, Article 141-1);
• Extortion (Paragraph "a", Part 3, Article 165);
• Fraud (Paragraph "a", Part 4, Article 168);
• Violation of Regulations of Trade or of Service-providing (Part 1, Article 189);
• Bribe-giving (Paragraph "a", Part 3, Article 211 with the application of Article 28).
Abdukodir Muminov should also recover the material and moral damage caused by his crimes in favor of the victims.
Parties dissatisfied with the verdict of the first instance are informed that they have the right to file a complaint and protest to the appellate instance of the Tashkent City Court within the procedure and time limit established by law.
