SSS detain university employees in Andijan and Tashkent region with bribes
An employee of Andijan State University and the head of the department of Chirchik State Pedagogical University as well as another employee of the same institution were caught red-handed while taking bribes.
An employee of Andijan State University promised a citizen help with his enrolment in the Biology department and for his “service”, he demanded $4,000. He was caught with physical evidence while receiving the money.
Also, the head of the department of Chirchik State Pedagogical University was detained when he was taking $10,100 in bribe. He said he would help with the transfer of studies of two students from Russian higher education institutions to the university where he works. The official also promised that he would provide them with an international certificate of knowledge of the English language.
In another case, the teacher of Chirchik State Pedagogical University was caught while receiving $3,000. In exchange for the money, he promised to help with an applicant’s enrolment in the higher education institution.
Currently, criminal cases have been initiated against these persons under articles 168 (fraud) and 211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code. Investigations are underway.
