335.5 billion soums worth of interest-free education loans allocated to women since year beginning

On August 21, at the AIMC, Saodat Boymirzayeva, head of the information service of the Family and Women’s Committee, gave information about financial support provided to women in Uzbekistan during 2023.

The tuition fees of all women studying at the master’s degree of state HEIs in the republic are covered. At least 200 billion soums are allocated from the state budget for this every year. According to the briefing, in the past period of 2023, 85.1 billion soums were paid for tuition fees of 14,110 women studying at the master’s degree for the second half of the academic year. 335.5 billion soums of preferential (interest-free) educational loans were allocated for more than 36,000 students.

According to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, a grant competition was held among business entities that started the activity of women’s employment and health promotion centers in mahallas. Proposals from 118 mahallas were considered, and a total of 3 billion 186 million soums of state grants were allocated to 66 projects that were considered the best. In accordance with the proposed projects, 1,062 women will be employed, the report reads.

In addition, more than 7.5 million women over 30 years of age underwent registration based on relevant decisions. 1 million 680 of them were included in the “Women’s Register”.

831,133 of them received the following assistance in the appropriate order:

•  Out of 424,231 unemployed women in need of social protection, 376,327 were placed in new jobs and public works;
•  40,514 out of 49,545 needy women who want to do business were allocated preferential loans to start their business activities;
•  One-time financial assistance was given to 171,550 out of 226,727 needy women without breadwinners. 2,451 of them had their houses repaired;
•  159,391 out of 204,523 needy women with disabilities of the 1st and 2nd groups, as well as those in need of urgent medical treatment, were given one-time financial assistance. 1,489 of them had their houses repaired;
•  Assistance was provided to 7,131 out of 9,005 women in need of housing. 680 of them were provided with housing, 6,451 were paid rent compensation;
•  Out of 86,649 dependent women with disabilities, 76,220 needy women were given financial assistance. 3,970 of them were provided with practical and material assistance for efficient use of the estate.
