Nearly 22,000 women in Uzbekistan issued protective warrants over 7 months
In the last 7 months of 2023, protective warrants were issued to 21,871 women who suffered from oppression and violence. Ugiloy Urozova, head of the Department under the Family and Women’s Committee, reported.
18,526 or 84.7% of cases of harassment and violence against women were committed in families.
It is noted that as a result of issuing a protective warrant, 9,362 families were restored and conflicts were resolved in 11,350 families. Due to 5,495 formalized protective warrants, administrative or criminal liability was established, and women’s violated rights were restored.
It should be recalled that in Uzbekistan in 2019, the institution of “protective warrant” was introduced for women who suffered from violence. Gazeta.uz has published a manual on “protective warrant” on the occasion of November 25 – “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women”. In it, one can find out where and how to get a warrant, how to protect the victim, and what measures will be taken against the torturer.
